We arrived in Keflavik airport on Friday 28th April 2017. We were welcomed by rain and wind – typical Icelandic weather.

Iceland

We decided to rent a car. By the way, it is legal to drive a car with bolts in tires in Iceland. At least we felt safe on a road when it started snowing. We were driving to the Blue Lagoon. Remember: buy tickets in advance. It is a very busy place which stinks. The sulphur smell was very strong.

Blue Lagoon

In the late afternoon, we went to Reykjavik.

Rejykavik

We stayed in a very nice hotel which I can recommend: Fosshotel Baron. It is located just beside the promenade with a short walking distance to the city centre. Unfortunately, we did not have a nice weather for sightseeing. It was raining and cold. Even waterproof trousers were wet a little as we stayed outside too long. We ate world-famous hot dog which is just a normal, regular hot-dog. Nothing really special. I am not sure why this place is so famous.

Reynisfjara

Seljalandsfoss

Next day we started our road trip. We did a Golden Circle and managed to drive up to the Glacier Lagoon which was spectacular. Thingvellir National Park was beautiful. All stops we did, had an amazing landscape.

Thingvellir National Park

We stayed in one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in: Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon. Room was superb and food amazing. Of course, very expensive but it is Iceland.

Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

On our way back to the airport we stayed in Keflavik town. It is a cozy town, ideal for 1 night before your flight back. Iceland is beautiful and I will go back to see the north part of the island.
